Laiko (Greek traditional popular music) program with CD. First dance “Chasapikos”– calm, beautiful but complex dance, consists of 104 different movements, very popular across Europe. Second dance“Chasaposervikos”– relatively fast dance with six simple steps but with challenging variations. Third dance, “Zeibekikos”- consists of 9 movements and free-style combinations of those. Fourth dance“Balos” – uplifting couple dance of the islands accompanied with pleasant music. Fifth and last dance “Zorba” choreography and well known song.

Cretan program. The musicians start with Cretan Lyra and Laoutos, with 2 or 3 tunes for the audience to become accustomed to the sound. Follows the dancing with four dancers with traditional colorful Cretan attire bringing with them items of the well known Cretan filoxenia and culture, opening with the welcoming song “Kriti mou omorpho nisi” (Crete my beautiful island).Follows the first dance “Sousta” consisting of 3 repeating easy steps. It is a loving dance and there takes place a “flirting” game between the couples. Second dance “Siganos”, consists of 6 easy steps, it is a mild dance. Dance of the company, we continue with the third dance while the music band goes on, with “Pentozalis” – fast and sensational dance with ten movements and beautiful manly variations. It originates in Rethymnon. We continue with the fourth dance, “Chaniotis”- its origin is implied by its name – beautiful dance consisting of twelve small sliding steps. Fifth dance “Maleviziotis” – the most challenging Cretan dance with 16 small fast and sensational steps. Sixth dance- “Anogianos pidichtos” (Jumping dance from Anogeia). Beautiful and challenging dance from Anogeia. Seventh and last dance is Kalamatianos. It’s the national dance with twelve steps and uplifting music.
In the pro – Covid19 era our program was continuing by dancing with the crowd. The dancers would motivate the audience to dance and be entertained. Now this is considered prohibitive. Only by instructing from a distance can be completed.
